Wednesday Addams
One of my favorite artists/creators of all time is Charles Addams. He created the Addams Family - it was such a great mix of darkness and humor. It was twisted stuff, but still fun and family friendly.

Happy Pantry: Happy Pumpkin
The only good pumpkin is a carved pumpkin. They don't serve any purpose other than decoration, right?
Okay - I guess some people like the pie (I'm one of those people)...so two things - and then nothing. But they do two glorious things. Once a year.

The Cake Expo Recap according to PKP Way
Click here to see their recap: http://www.thepkpway.com/cake-expo-recap/
The Cake Expo was a little over a week ago. We spent the entire time in our booth - so it was nice to have people like the fine folks at the PKP Way do a recap and share some terrific photos. If you didn't go, and many didn't, then you should check out their blog because they had some amazing pics!

Sandman 01
In the realm of entertainment, there are a lot of characters called Sandman, or referred to as some sort of sand person...I started drawing one, and then more and more started popping up....so I did 4 total. This was back in 2009 for a gallery show I had at Nickelodeon.

Happy Pantry Boy Bibs and Hats!
We're finally getting into boy merchandise! We've had people come up and tell us to make cactus, plums and peacocks. We've had people say, "If only you had such and such," then they'd buy it. Well, we usually sigh that we can't accommodate their requests and hope the next person likes what we do have - but one thing we've been planning is the boy version of our Ms Cupcake.
Our bibs are $10 each and the hats are $8. But we also offer them as a set for only $15! Check 'em out on our website - www.happy-pantry.com
I guess that makes him Mr Cupcake? I guess...it's a terrible name, but that's what it is for now.

'Lil Gir
Gir was one of my favorite cartoon characters of all time. I was just ending my internship at Nickelodeon and there was this pale guy in a trench coat stalking the halls. Turns out it was Jhonen Vasquez, an independent comic book artist who was in the process of creating Invader Zim.
If I had known that I was working in the same building as the people who created such an amazing show, I would have been stalking them for days! But instead I gave him room and made with the shifty eyes.
In any case - the designs, the story, the jokes - everything is near perfect, and it's sad that Invader Zim only went 2 seasons.
I thought it would be fun to try and do a version of Gir as a Fairly Odd Parents character. Here is my version.

World Egg Day
It's World Egg Day. Every day it's a new celebration...but usually for something pointless like this.
Horray.

A dark piece of coffee: Happy Pantry
I'm on a dark paper kick when drawing with colored pencils, only it seems like it's just staying dark. I kept trying to lighten it up, but it doesn't seem to cooperate...so this is the final piece:

Nightmare before Corpse Bride
I was watching Corpse Bride, only because it was streaming on Netflix. I wanted to like the movie so much - and it's not that good. Not only is it a really quick story, but there are too many songs, and they're all horrible. I think the short running time wouldn't be so bad, but those songs...they're the worst! They're so ridiculously bad. And it's surprising considering it's a teaming up of Danny Elfman with the guys that made Nightmare Before Christmas.
One bright spot is the character designs. Those are really good - still not Nightmare Before Christmas level, but very good.
Anyhow - when they introduce Scraps, it reminded me of Zero - and that made me wonder if it was the same dog - one as a ghost and one as a skeleton. Does anyone ever say?

Jack Skellington
I've always wanted to draw my version of Jack Skellington, but I've always held off because Tim Burton already did the perfect version.
Usually I draw my characters with really squatty bodies, but Jack has a really long and lean torso, so to keep it looking normal, I tried to keep those things in mind as I drew him.

National Homemade Cookies Day!
It's National Homemade Cookies Day today - that's right, there's a national thing for every day. It's actually quite a lot of national day things today - but cookies are the tastiest!
