Happy Pantry: Anime Expo 2016

Happy Pantry at the Anime Expo

Ever since we heard about the Anime Expo we wanted to take Happy Pantry there.  We missed out on last year's just barely - and this year we were wait listed.  We never thought we'd get in, but then they opened up some extra slots in Artist Alley and, much to our surprise, we were accepted!  So now we're going to be showing at this year's Anime Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center on July 1st through July 4th.

Here are the hours of operation:

Friday July 1st: 12pm-6pm
Saturday July 2nd: 10am-6pm
Sunday July 3rd: 10am-6pm
Friday July 4th: 10am-3pm

One of us will be at Table 48H in Artist Alley - where you'll be able to find most of our Happy Pantry merchandise!

it's a little hot out there

Ever feel like the entire world is melting?  That's how it feels today.  I'm going to stay inside because it is hot out!

I'm just glad I'm not in Phoenix....it's supposed to be 120 degrees there.  But it's well over 100 here in Burbank, and even that feels like too much - so maybe it's just overkill.

This is the first day of summer and boy is it a doozy!

Anime Expo July 1st-July 4th

There's going to be a lot going on the July 4th weekend.  At least for Happy Pantry.  We're going to the Anime Expo!  We're going to be at table 48H in Artist Alley.  It's a huge event, and we hope to see you all there!  Or some of you there.

Finding Dory drawing

While she wasn't my favorite character in Finding Nemo - what with all the repetitive amnesia nonsense - Pixar has always come through with a well crafted, beautiful looking movie.  Except for Cars 2.

So I'm looking forward to seeing this one!

Alien Blob on a full stomach

I did these a while back - I wanted to do a series of blob aliens with cute creatures in their stomachs.  I thought it would make a cool vinyl toy.  I still have yet to realize that toy dream, but I still really like the drawings...

Of course Penguins can beat Sharks!

In case you ever wondered, if these two worthy foes met, who would win in a fight?

They proved last night that it would be a penguin.  Penguins would win 4 out of every 6 times!

At least in Hockey.

Not that anyone watches hockey....

Lil' Doctor Manhattan

I did this illustration way back in 2009, but as I was going through some of my older drawings, saw this one and wanted to update it a bit.

I added a lot more texture to the bg (the moon and the earth) and changed some things that I didn't like about Doctor Manhattan.  Like his nose wasn't as cute as it is now (it's a stupid thing, but it was a little longer and not as petite, which is a better fit for the version I draw), and the eyes weren't as dimensional.  There were a lot of little things, and I think it's a lot better now.

Do I help the Earth or watch it get destroyed?  Either way I'll be naked.

The state of politics today

I was looking forward to voting in this year's election - only to see what ended up happening...is it even worth voting for the primaries?  I signed up as a Republican, so that was my first mistake - the contest was already decided by primary time...and it looks like the Democrats are practically squared away too.  I'll vote in the actual election, so that'll be fun....or horrible.

But it'll be interesting!

Happy National Donut Day!

I don't think calories count today - so eat as many donuts as you can fit in your mouth at one time!  Or maybe take a bite and swallow and then another bite....but eat a lotta donuts!  It's National Donut Day!
