It's getting quite chilly again, and that necessitates the pulling out of heavy winter gear. Even hot stuff like chili peppers have to bundle up.
We usually refrain from the cheesy pink cheeks which seem to be very prevalent in kawaii illustrations - but this is one of the few times it's called for but only because the cold makes the extremities extra freezy.

Whatcha Eatin' Adelia?
Whatcha eatin' Adelia?
How rude!
I was developing Adelia a few years ago as a cute penguin - and my version of Hello Kitty if I was to design a cute girl character. I even got as far as development on a children's book as well as a handful of illustrations - but stalled out when I drew the Squaremania characters (Paddy Panda) as a supplement to Adelia, and then they quickly eclipsed her in my interest.
I went to a children's book illustrator meeting where I had an editor look at my portfolio. She didn't get Adelia and said that kids would question why she didn't have a mouth (because she wasn't designed with one because she doesn't need one...not to mention the fact that the more I developed her, the less like a penguin she looked). So I went home and redrew the top image with the bottom one and added a mouth. So it's possible for her to have one, if she needs it - but I don't think she needs it.

Lollipoop rough
It's tough being a lolli - especially when it comes time to poop. Skinny butts always slip through the hole...but better when one sits down than once one has commenced....
This is very clearly a Happy Pantry rejected illustration...but I knew that going in.

Burr-eat-toes!
So we think of a lot of things for Happy Pantry - some of them are really good (if we do say so ourselves) - and sometimes we come up with Burritoes....that's Burr-eeee-toes.
It's no good.

Charlie Brown: I got a rock!
It's strange and hilarious that whenever Charlie Brown goes trick or
treating, everyone else gets candy and he gets a rock. I thought about
this last night and had to draw this...
Why doesn't Charlie take it upon himself to do some tricks? It IS trick OR treat...if someone gave him a rock, they're daring him to retaliate. At some point they'd get the hint and the joke wouldn't be so funny with all the Snoopy doo on their porch. At least Charlie Brown should take Snoopy on walks and dooks on all the lawns of the houses that rocked him.
Also - what kind of parents live in these houses that would give a little boy a rock for Halloween? Especially when they give candy to all the other kids. He lives in a messed up town.

Even more Happy Pantry Tote Bags - No Coffee, No Talky
We've been busy! We not only got more of the tote bags we already have in stock - but we added this new bag as well!
No Coffee, No Talky is one of our best selling illustrations - so it was a no brainer that we made it into a tote bag.
They're available on our website - http://www.happy-pantry.com for only $10

Negan's Bat
"Lucille" or "He took it like a champ"
It was a brutal episode of The Walking Dead...we knew something bad was going to happen, but it was worse than anyone thought. I thought about drawing this all night, so I had to get it out and on paper (via photoshop) so I could move on.I thought about including spoilers, but meh, I'd figured people should find out what happened by watching the episode, not looking at lame drawings they had the misfortune of coming across...

New Episode of Spongebob this Saturday
I prop designed this next episode of SpongeBob. It was my first episode of season 10. Below are a couple of the props I designed. I believe I did the entire episode - there are a few reused props from previous episodes, so I didn't technically design everything....
The egg from the 3rd season of SpongeBob makes it's return in this Saturday's BRAND NEW Spongebob epsiode! The episode is called WhirlyBrains and is probably on at 10:30 (but check your local listings!), and probably has nothing to do with eggs. I added that shadow line to the existing prop design!
SpongeBob's television has been seen in many episodes - but it's never been broken in half. So this is one of the harder props I designed for the episode.
Anyway - check out the show - new episodes every Saturday for the next few weeks!

Saturday's SpongeBob SquarePants is ALL NEW!
Hey guys,
Turn in to Nickelodeon to watch a brand new episode of Spongebob Squarepants! It's at 10:30 am, and I did the prop design for this episode!
Here's a sneak peak at what you'll see, if you look close enough:
I've learned, now that I've been on SpongeBob for over a year now, that this prop has too much information on it - for something zipping across the scene (you'll have to watch the episode to know what I'm talking about), it only needs the picture of the onion for the viewer to understand what it is. The words are superfluous.
Why is a sack of onions zipping across the screen?!?!!? TUNE IN this Saturday to find out!

I'm working on Spongebob...!
I've been working on Spongebob since 2015...so not for that long. I did a lot of freelance at first, and have transitioned into full time in March.
This is one of the first props I designed for the show. It's fantastic to see something that I designed painted and composited into an episode of one of the most iconic and popular shows ever.
It starts as a simple drawing in a storyboard and then goes to a designer (in this case, me) and is designed and cleaned up in the style of the show. Then it goes to paint (which used to be ink and paint, but they started making the designers clean up their own work a few years back on most shows), and all of it is sent overseas to be animated.
The second picture is because I was drawing Plankton, and thought how much he looked like Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc...so I drew them together...
And finally, just because I happened to have it - here's a storyboard vs fully designed prop. Look for it in episode 958! Whichever one that is...you'll recognize it because of all the bulletin boards...

Happy Pantry - bow ties and forks
I use this image on my business card. When we were planning on what to include, I wanted to draw a Happy Pantry character that I felt best exemplified myself - pokey hair and glasses. The fork was perfect! Only - I would never be able to pull off the bow tie look. So while it works for the fork, I'd look rather ridiculous.
I also kept trying to play with the pun - what a fork (instead of dork)...but it doesn't quite work, so we never posted it as a drawing by itself...until now! But without any crap puns. Better no pun than crappy pun. Unless that particular crappy pun cracked me up...

Long Beach Comic Con is coming! Table R4
My friend Tim and I are going to be sharing a table for our second year in a row at the Long Beach Comic Con - September 17th and 18th. It's in Long Beach. The name kind of gives it away.
It's a really good show - lots of great artists - a bunch of big name comic book guys are going to be there - as well as tv and movie stars...if you wanna shell out money to just get their pic or signature (which is kind of lame)...but they're there for that, if you want!
We're cramming into table R4. It should be delightful.
There might be too much fan art out there - but by looking at the image above, you might see that I've embraced it. And am enjoying my versions of these famous characters.

What a fork! Happy Pantry
i posted this 4 years ago today! That's how long we've been doing Happy Pantry drawings. It's still a lot of fun...I'm happy we've found something we like doing that others seem to like as well.
I was channeling a little bit of myself in this drawing. Which is weird because I don't wear bow ties, nor pocket protectors...and I would get new glasses instead of taping them together.
Who would tape their glasses together?

Happy Pantry Hot stuff
Don't get yourself a swelled head, there's always someone hotter than you. Just be happy that you make someone's mouth tingle. Just not everyone's. But only because that'd be gross. Or, at least, unrealistic.

Pokemangoes - only better this time
This is basically the same illustration as the one I previously did - I just added a few things i meant to do the first time and completely forgot.
Like - I forgot you could change the names of the pokes - so I added a few names - I added a few blue circles behind some of them because, in the Pokemon Go game that means they were recently caught and I added a signature since I drew all of it and created it all and was the author if it all...! Boom - enjoy!
